Perfect Escape- Jennifer Brown

thumbnail
Do you have a loved one who has a disability?  If so, you know what an impact that has on your whole family.  Jennifer Brown has written Perfect Escape, to show others what life can be like when a family member suffers from a debilitating disability.  She tells this story beautifully because she tells it from personal experience.

Kendra's older brother, Grayson, has OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder) this means that he feels the need to check things repeatedly, or have certain thoughts or perform routines and rituals over and over. Helping Grayson requires so much of her parents attention that she feels compelled to be perfect so she can make things easier for them. It's a lot of pressure that she puts upon herself.  So much pressure that she does the unthinkable.  She cheats at school so her grades don't slip and prevent her from getting into her dream college.  There are some many things wrong with that decision but the most important one is that she involved a lot of other students and now that their cheating has been discovered kids are getting expelled. Kendra knows it won't be long before the administrators will be looking for her.  Kendra makes an impulsive decision that not only affects her but involves Grayson as well.  It is a story worth reading.
